Welcome to "wholemindesigner's" Blog

I hope you will find many helpful resources here that will encourage you to unlock your thinking potential, and discover the power of your design-mind in your educational setting.

Katrin Oddleifson Robertson

Since 1982, Katrin Oddleifson Robertson has been deeply interested in the role that design intelligence has in the learning process. She studied art and art history at Oberlin College and received her BA in 1984. Katrin went on to study education at Stanford University where she explored the nature of cognition, thinking and the arts with Elliot Eisner as her mentor, receiving her MA 1987. Katrin has had a long career as an educator, teaching elementary and middle school language arts, social studies and art as well as teaching at Eastern Michigan and the University of Michigan in their Teacher Education program's since 1999. Katrin founded Wholemindesign in 2009 to promote the concept of using one's capacity to design as a thinking tool, and to create materials to help individuals use their design capacities more fully when learning.

Diane Tamblyn
Diane Tamblyn has been teaching and learning in the classroom with young children for 25 years. She has served in a variety of leadership roles developing, coordinating, and integrating curriculum for the early childhood program in the Brighton Area School District, Brighton, Michigan. Diane received her BA in elementary education with a focus on integrated language and creative arts, specializing in early childhood education from Western Michigan University. She earned her MA from the College of Human Ecology at Michigan State University. Her diverse experience with Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia models of education continue to influence her teaching. Diane especially enjoys the process of designing innovative learning experiences for children, and collaborating with colleagues as she seeks to add depth and joy to her daily practice.
